Nouns
Nouns have gender and number. 
The gender determines if a noun is masculine or feminine
The number determines if a noun is singular or plural
Nouns that refer to the male person or animal are masculine
Nouns that refer to the female person or animal are feminine
Nous in Spanish are either masculine or feminine
You can folow some guidelines to help to deduce the gender of a noun
1) Most nouns that end in "o"  are masculine and 
    most nouns that end in "a" are feminine

However there are exceptions to the rule, 
some nouns ending in "a" are masculine, and
some nouns ending in "o" are feminine
